About

Rhinebeck has been called “Paris on the Hudson,” and “The New Hamptons,” and while we don’t quite agree with those assessments, we think it’s a damn fine place to live or visit, one of the most beautiful, friendly, and charming places in the Hudson Valley. Besides a vibrant cultural life and stunning views of hill, dale, and the Hudson River, Rhinebeck and its surrounding towns offer really great eating, not just to survive, but soul-sustaining, bliss-causing food. And we’re only getting better day by day.

This is a really exciting time to eat here, with new eateries and food purveyors setting up shop all the time. In this time of doom, gloom, and stimulus plans, stop by a place where we’re still enjoying life to the fullest, with plenty of really cool, fun people creating edible products to help us enjoy it.

Welcome to your resource of information on our area’s tasty consumables and its purveyors, providers, brewers, growers, cooks, distillers, and raisers. We promise info on local restaurants and sources of good stuff to cook or eat.

Your host on this blog is Jennifer Brizzi, area resident since 1996. You may have seen one of my cooking demos at the Dutchess County Fair or the NYS Sheep and Wool Festival, or read one of my food columns, which have included “Jenny’s Food Focus” in the Hudson River Sampler, “Good Food” in Taconic Weekend, or “Ravenous” in the Woodstock Times, Kingston Times, Saugerties Times, etc.

Guest field tasters will be adding input on their eating experiences as well.

As my readers may have noted, I tend to get a bit long-winded when writing about my passion, food, so this blog will help me get practice being brief! Thanks for helping me get that practice, and for giving me yet another excuse to eat good food. But especially, thanks for stopping by, and welcome! I hope you’ll find it worth the trip.
